The previous version, macOS Sonoma 14.6, included the ability to run multiple displays from the M3-powered MacBook Pro, even with the lid closed.
This advancement was especially relevant for MacBook Pro models released in 2023, following its introduction on the M3-powered MacBook Air.

What’s new in macOS 14.6.1
The latest update is macOS 14.6. 1, focuses on resolving an iCloud-specific issue that prevented some users from successfully enabling or disabling Advanced Data Protection (ADP).
This issue resulted in users who attempted to enable ADP and were unsuccessful receiving an error message and the user interface accurately reflecting that ADP was not enabled.
On the other hand, those who tried to disable this same system and encountered errors, saw the interface displaying ADP as disabled, while in reality, it was still active in their iCloud data.
With the new update, these users will receive a notification directing them to Settings, where they must confirm their decision to disable ADP.
In addition to macOS Sonoma, Apple is working on public and developer betas for macOS Sequoia 15, the next major update that is expected, presumably, in September or October.
A developer beta for macOS 15.1 is also being tested, which will bring Apple Intelligence features to Sequoia.
